Sent: Sunday, October 31, 1999 6:20 AM Subject: T+10, early morning First of all, this is just a short note. My computer problem, losing time, has appeared to resolve itself when the clock made the change from Daylight Savings. It even made up the time it had loss prior to the change. After a very good Saturday, I had a pretty rough night. I had a low grade fever in the 99s. This may be due to the beginning of engraftment, but nobody knows for sure. It is not likely an infection because it never got higher, and is down to 99 now. More of a problem is an increase in what feels like a sore throat. This is also another consequence of the treatment, like the mouth sores. Not dangerous in itself, the concern is that I will not be able to swallow, and not be able to eat or drink. This would put me on IV food, something I want to avoid as long as possible. Anyway, they have me on some strong pain killers specifically for the sore throat pain, and the mouth sores. I am on the minimal dosage now, but they are willing to increase it as needed. This stuff does work, and there appear to be no other side effects that I can feel. All this has made for a tough night's sleeping. I awoke earlier in the middle of the movie The Last Dinosaur, starring Joan Van Ark and Richard Boone (Paladin, for you old people). What a stinker. Lots of guys in hairy suits and one guy in a big rubber suit. I am now watching the beginning of Love at First Bite with George Hamilton and Susan St. James. This is one of my favorites. Dracula gets evicted from his Transylvania castle by the communists, and is told he is to live in a one bedroom apartment with 7 other people and a pig, or something like that. Instead he moves, complete with Renfro, -played by Arte Johnson (Laugh-In) to the 70s New York and gets into the disco scene. I don't know if I will stay awake for the whole movie or not. I decided to begin my marathon trainging today, and walked over a mile continuously during my midday walk. I will see what tomorrow will bring. That's it for now Dave
